The iconic Jean-Michel Frank was perhaps the most influential French designer of his time. He often paired rectilinear forms with luxurious materials like straw, plaster, terracotta, shagreen, obsidian, parchment, and mica. Mica is an iridescent mineral revered for it's shine and translucency. This project was inspired by one of Jean-Michel's famous cross-base lamps clad in mica sheets. It was a 10-step labor of love that I hope to do again someday.
