Not so simply white

White plaster is a constant fixture in the design world. I was asked to experiment on making a simple white plaster many years ago and I thought I had it worked out. But since then I have had to modify this technique endlessly. In fact, it's not simple at all because the absence of coloration requires you to have better control over texture, movement and reflection. Plus, you have to make sure it doesn't look like someone just slapped on a few coats of sheeny white paint. It’s arguable that white plaster is one of the hardest textures to get right.

Some jobs are not so much about the technique as it is about project management. Talk about plastering twenty thousand square feet of surface area within a time span of under three weeks. It took me a few weeks to detox mentally from this one.
